Dennis Slade

Dennis Slade is a software engineering manager, programmer and technologist who works primarily with open source cloud-based technologies like JavaScript, PHP, and React. Since the 1990s he has implemented and supported large scale, web-based systems for Citibank, IBM, the Financial Times, Oracle/Sun, Ogilvy & Mather, Scholastic, and a number of deceased start-ups including Freeverse, a pioneering AI-based mobile gaming company. 

A certified tennis fanatic who has been watching, studying and playing the game for over 35 years, Dennis practices tennis - as well as padel, squash, ping pong, and occasionally pickleball - year round on courts throughout New York City's five boroughs. A devoted student of the history of tennis, he has read dozens of memoirs, biographies, reference works, and instruction manuals on the sport.

Dennis is proud to have previously volunteered as a coach with the Kings County Tennis League, the Highland Park Tennis Association, and during the annual Arthur Ashe Kids Day at the US Open. He has served as a board member of GLTA organizations in New York City, San Diego, and San Francisco. He is also proud to have restarted the GLTA chapter in Philadelphia (yes, he knows where to get the best cheesesteaks!) in 2007-8.

Before settling down in New York City with his husband, Dennis resided for extended periods of time in San Diego, San Francisco, and Zürich, Switzerland.
